w210 Aircon Pulley

Hi, I have a W210 E300TD, and my air con stopped working a while ago. While doing something else, I had the bottom shield off and saw a pulley whell lying there that fitted the Aircon unit, so I replaced it, but cant work out what drives the pulley. Can anyone help?
