W210 - boot liner?

Can someone check if there is supposed to be a bit of cardboardy carpet that sits on the 'roof' of the boot, below the parcel shelf?

Mine doesn't have one, although there are holes that suggest it should be there. Just wanted to check.

Neither of my W210s have ever had one, even though I've been second owner from 40k miles.

I checked mine last night.
There is no carpet on the underside of the rear parcel shelf.
