W210 Bose System Speakers

Got a '96 W210 with Bose stereo system consisting of tape head unit and 6 disc changer. Rear speakers were blown when I brought the car recently and I am looking at replacing them. Wha should I replace them with and what would have caused them to blow?

Got a '96 W210 with Bose stereo system consisting of tape head unit and 6 disc changer. Rear speakers were blown when I brought the car recently and I am looking at replacing them. Wha should I replace them with and what would have caused them to blow?

Having the sound too high will blow them, to check the Bose amp, just put a digital meter on the output terminals set to the 2v DC range, there should be no DC present at these terminals

Do check the impedance of the speakers, they could be as low as 1Ω, the higher impedance that you replace them with the lower the output

Anyone got any recommendations as to what to replace them with. Also are the speakers on the Bose amp systems different to conventional systems in other Mercedes? Theres some speakers on ebay, but they are for the front of W210 models.
