R230...about to purchase will update shortly
Hi Folks, Ive searched the threads, followed the instructions in any number of permutations as shown in
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=40425&highlight=dipping+mirror
and consulted my copy of WIS, but i STILL cant get my passenger mirror to dip when I engage reverse. It used to happily oblige and indeed it all functions otherwise as normal. I wonder whether when I fixed the reversing light switch in the Gear lever housing that its somehow knackered the functionality, though the reversing lights now work properly (the contacts had fused, meaning the lights were on all the time)
My memory seats all work as they should and I know the mirror is linked to this? Any ideas? Does it need a Star to re program it?.. Im on the Amberley GTG so a pretty please to any expert Star owners coming along!
Cheers

Not something simple like the mirror select switch set to the drivers side?

Hi there Blobcat, my word no, but I wish it was that simple!.. Ive checked all of those details - indeed I think the switch position is mentioned in the link in my initial thread. Ive tried it in both positions and nothing happens :(

Ignition on. Leave gear selector in "P".
Press Memory 1, 2 or 3 and release.
Set the mirror selector to "passenger side" if it isn't already.
Adjust the mirror to the required dipped position.
Press the Green memory button, and release.
Within 3 seconds pull the mirror adjusting joystick backwards ie "Down" and hold for 2 seconds - NB the mirror should not move.
Job done.

Hey Rock,
Just tried your instructions and as with the others, although followed and the mirror doesnt move on the final 2 second hold. once I've actually tried it out and put the car in reverse - with the mirror joystick selector on passenger. The mirror refuses to budge from the horizontal, making me think it needs a star reset or something. Any ideas?
Cheers

That's a shame. Others have said that you do need to be pretty quick between operations. Apparently the green button needs to be pressed within 3 seconds of moving the mirror. I don't think I was particularly fast when I did it. Perhaps I was just lucky.

Sorry it didn't work for you.

Rock
