Hi folks,

Please shed some light on the problem found in my car. When this error came out, I need to off the engine and restart it every time in order to continue my journey. I'm also attached the history of the errors stored in the ECU and parts I have replaced so far (Sorry it is a bit lengthy). The VIN no is wdb2100622b190932, W210, E240.

Why some errors can be erased and the car can still run ok after that? As of today I have traveled 2000km without detecting this ESP/BAS error.

I am based in Malaysia and the time zone is different from UK, therefore I may not read your reply and response in time. Please share your valuable experience with me so that I can get rid of this problem.

Thank you very much!
(Trying hard understanding Merc more and more each day!)

22 May 2009 (146939km)

Symptom: ESP, BAS lighted up, engine running but unable to accelerate. Display Visit Workshop.

Errors found as follows:

P207E The efficiency of the left catalytic converter is insufficient (P0432). Fault indicator lamp on.

P203B Fault of function monitor in electronic accelerator (P0221). Fault indicator lamp on.

P2004 B2/5 (Hot Film MAF sensor) (P0100). Fault indicator lamp on.

C1041 The control unit N47-5 stored (ESP, SPS & BAS control module) no longer sends on the CAN Bus.

B1416 Heating water circulation pump 43lml

Action: Erased all errors and continue to run as normal. Please note that the catalytic converter was removed since 2003. I don't need the heating pump because in this country all year round is 'hot'. Can I dismantle this pump, without creating any error code to the ECU? How to DIY?

I had the same trouble, the way I solutioned it was taken from the owner's manual: with the car in the parked position, start the engine, then turn the wheel all way to the left, then all way to the right, then center the wheel, turn off the engine, wait a few seconds, start the engine again and there you go, it works like magic!!
