Hi kamba

If the engine won't turn over and it was OK the last time you used it, I would look at the battery as the most likely cause. You give too little information about the vehicle to give an informed assessment, e.g. model, age, etc.

A dead battery wouldn't be able to start the car but it could provide sufficient current to power other items such as internal displays and lighting.

REGARDS

Phil

Is it turning over at all when you turn the key - i.e. is the starter turning? Have you checked the fuses for things like the starter motor etc? Could be a blown fuse or relay maybe? Or perhaps an earth strap coming loose? You'll need to do a bit more digging/investigation I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Mark

Try new batteries in your key fob to start with. This will only cost you a couple of quid. It is quite possible for a dodgy key fob to unlock the car but not allow it to start, although normally the engine will turn over just not fire up.

Other points to check:
Starter motor and connections.
Park switch on the gear lever if yours is an auto - it shouldn't turn over UNLESS it is in park.

check the 10 amp fuses in the cover on the nearside fuse box, under 4 phillips screws, two 10 amp fuses, if one blown your find the cooling fan seized, one quick test is to put ign on and see if it comes out of park, if not then fan/fuse u,s

The brake light switch can cause the gear shift to lock up, it could also be the gear shift isolator
