W210 E320 Auto gearbox problem

The gearbox was recently removed from my car for engine repairs (too long a story for this post). When returned from repairer 4th gear seems to be no longer selected when gerabox changes up or down in Drive or when moving selector to 4. If pulling away from standing start with selector in 4 it seems to change to 5th after 3rd.

Any idea as to what problem may be? Repairer has not yet been able to sort.

Solution found

Problem turned out to be intermitant electrical connector at gearbox open circuiting 4th gear selector switch. Computer had logged gearbox fault. With connector fixed nad computer fault reset all has been rosey
