e32ocdi Avant with EVERYTHING Obsidian Black...WAS! now departed.
Hi all, Got a problem with gearbox now!, after sorting "bleeding" problem (previous posts), now gearbox clunks into "D" and "R" and the "Tip" doesnt work and auto wont change up!
Battery had been drained, during previous problem and I was always a bit suspect of battery , so decided to replace (good quaility, 900 cold cranking), this made no difference, new MAF sensor,... no difference, ...gearbox resets (various postings, various sites)...Yep! no difference.
I guess my next step should be ATF/filter change as dont know when/if this has been done! Which I intend to do but also heard of ecu contamination ,can anyone tell me where mine would be please?, want to check first.
Could it be type of ATF?, as week or so prior to parking up to solve "bleeding" problem, a "friend" added DII to top up level (about 1 Litre) would this cause prob and what might effects of this be?
Also will box need to "re-learn" driving style and how long would this take?

Thanks to everyone in advance and thanks for help on previous problem Xtractorfan, Panosonic, Television, Parrot of Doom....Oh the list goes on! Thanks Guys!

Hi, I would definately renew the atf and filter but ONLY use the correct oil supplied by MB, you must not use any other type of oil. To have needed a top up of 1 ltr means you probably have a transmission leak, check underneath the gearbox for any 'wet' area, a common source of a leak is from the electric plug 'spacer' which is a quick and cheap repair.

You will need to buy a dipstick from MB.
