HELLO EVERYBODY I am new to the site and very impressed with your responses. I have been reading all your threads because I have a problem.
It all started with the ABS/esp lights showing and the car running cool ( about 55) . Glow plug light remaining on after start.
The answer from your threads was Glow plug, Foot brake switch and Thermostat housing replaced. I collected the car ,gave it a run and stopped at the local shop - For it to refuse to start- found Pressure regulator valve had stuck open. Valve replaced.
The following day my starting problems began. Upto this point car started instantly ( done 65K) Then we had all injectors serviced and re-sealed.
My problem is now still a long wind-up before start. I have also replaced glow plug relay.
Since valve and injectors sorted the car litterally flies and on run is turning about 40mpg.
Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated.

Welcome.

Sounds like a air leak into the fuel lines, when you switch it off, see if theres any air running back through the clear plastic fuel lines!

Pipe does not appear to have any air showing between filter and pump.

I would suggest 9-10 secs.( 5 mins ago) yesterday it took about three full attempts at ignition switch. This morning whilst cold glow light on for about 4sec and started on 4th attempt.
The glow light was on a lot longer (10 sec) before we started having problems.

Thanks - Diesel engineers will get a visit first thing on Monday to either solve the problem or rule it out.

problem has changed a little.

From reading you comments I have contacted diesel engineers and the car is being leak off tested both cold and hot on Wednesday next week.
However after reading your comments about air in the system . I watched the fuel pipe on switch off and sure enough several minute air bubbles appeared to run back to filter. So all the plastic hoses to the fuel system have been replaced . A small weep was discovered on the electic shut off and o-ring replaced . After bleeding ,the car starts immediately - My problem solved.
No soch luck... At cold and upto about 60 degrees it starts quickly and showing excellent consumption but when temp is at normal 80ish it still needs winding over for the full ignition cycle before it fires.
Do you think the leak off could be a problem only when hot.
