folks

This is weird, on my w210 e320 when I accelerate at tickover or driving, there is a kind of light electrical ticking noise that seems to tune into the engine rpm increases, that eminates from under the dashboard on the drivers side..

If you remove the plastic cover its worse. Everything is fine fine fine apart from that?

ideas?

I don't hear anythiong outside or around the exhaust so it seems to be inside..

Thanks

it wouldn't be the tappets in the engine.... I have heard sounds like this from both my 190 and 200 -the hydraulic tappets make a clicking noise that is in sequence with the engine revs and then as the tappets adjust, the noise diassapears.

Just a thought

late feedback..

turned out the rubber gaiter at the end of the steering rack had perished in several places. so i just disconnected the rack and replaced the gaiter (about £5) from the dealer
