Done a search, but can't find anything.

Noticed the other day the under the rubber on the tops, the window frames are fast rotting away. Great. The car is an 01, and everything else seems fine rust-wise.

Is this common? I'm wondering if the rubbers have gone (though they look OK) and this has caused it?

I would be very surprised if you didn't have rust there.
All 210 E classes go there. Nothing wrong with the seals, it was a manufacturing fault. How's the boot lock, suspension mounts and front cross member?
Call into a dealer, they should repair it FOC under warranty. You'll be hard pressed to find a 210 owner (inc me) who hasn't had this repaired at some point. Get the dealer to do a full corrosion check, they know where to look.

Officially it should have full dealer history but with an 01 model, even if you don't, I suspect you will find them quite helpful.

There is also a recall I believe where they put sealant in to stop the rust. Speak to your local dealer.
