I am just about to fit new disks and pads on the front of my W210, hoping to get rid of a wheel wobble under braking.

Can anyone answer these questions?

The new disks are coated in grey paint (bought from a mian dealer), should I remove this before fitting, and if so what with?

Does anyone know the torque settings for the caliper carrier bolts and the bolts in the caliper?

I did this job on a W202, is it the same? Will the Haynes book of lies for the W202 be any use?

Many thanks.

Leave the paint on them, it will be removed first brake application and whats left will help against corosion.

Cant remember the torque settings off hand sorry. I think the main anchor bolts are about 110nm but not 100% on that.

Remove the grey primer from the disk surface!!!!! use a green scourer dry should be good enough.

I have just replaced the discs front and back on mine and left the paint on. All is fine except I had to run the car with the emergency break on to take the paint off. And I agree it keeps the rust at bay on the non contact parts.

Dougjoy again, I cured my wobble when I changed the rear discs and pads, the inner calliper piston on both my rear brakes had seized, once they were freed all was fine. Might be worth checking the inside of both rear discs to see if they are rusty, it may be your problem as well.

Job Done

Thanks for all your advice, new disks and pads now fitted. I did decide to clean the disks before fitting.

I have another couple of questions:

How long do you usually let the brakes bed-in for?

What torque setting do you use for the wheel nuts? (I used 81 lbs/ft)

Also I found a very small amount of play in the front wheel bearings (both recently replaced with genuine MB parts by indie) would this cause a wheel wobble under braking?

I have driven the car and it does appear to be better, although I have only used the brakes gently so far.

Once agaian thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
