W210 heater blower switch

The heater blower switch on my W210 has developed a mind of its own, sometimes the speed of the fan doesn't correspond to the setting of the switch, its either too slow or too fast. Ive noticed that if I push or pull lightly on the switch, normal service is resumed! The fault only seems to effect the firs (most often used) three speeds and I am guessing that its just the switch at fault. Before I start to strip it out, has anyone come across this problem before, how easy is it to remove the switch, can it be repaired or is a replacement switch required? Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Hi,
Reasonably common fault apparently on 210s and 202s, when my friends 202 one played up we got a replacement from e-bay .
I think that if you were to remove it from the car and spray some electrical contact cleaner round the back of the switch this will hopefully remove any possible carbon build up which is more than likely the cause of your problems.

i just bought a c250 diesel tonight. few problems, the blower/ heater is not working at all. my father has a c250TD same problem but his turns on 2 full speed still no hot air though! any ideas?

You will have to drop the blower motor 390 in the link and check the carbon brushes
