Hi,

W210 - E280 Auto 1996

Please can someone suggest how to gain access to change a failed bulb for the heater controls on the centre console? Anyone with a parts explosion?

Tks, Bob

Basically the dash comes apart... The front fascia comes off and then you can get at the bulbs underneath. The ones in the air direction selector/fan speed ones are mounted in the middle of the switch I think. I did this some time ago and it all went well. I think it just clips apart, ie no screws - so be careful not to break plastic bits when taking it out. I think I started at the ashtray and worked up...

not much use I know but at least you know it can be done!

Hi, Well, in fact the solution is very simple! Just pull off the knobs and the bulbs can be accessed through the windows in the plastic casing, underneath the white plastic defusers. Just be careful when unlatching and swivelling the defusers as they are a tad delicate. No need to take out the console/dash at all. :)
