My local MB dealer has noted on my service bill that the NSF seat belt is not reeling back in correctly.

I presume that this will matter at MOT time - does it mean a complete new seatbelt or is there a simpler / cheaper fix?

Does anyone know a source of cheap MB spares?

Not sure if reeling back in is an show stopper, as long as the locking mechanism works?

Replacement time....

I needed to order a rear seat belt because someone [daughters teenage friends] got a perfume spill on it and I am allergic to these things. Nothing would get rid of the smell. They are not stock items, especially if they are colour matched to the car. Because of the explosive grabbers couriers no long air freight things like seat belts, airbags etc so you have to wait for them to come by road. Could take some time.

I reckon they will take easy way out with MOT and fail the seat belt, they always check to see the mechanisms work. So why is it not retracting? Is the fabric turned inside the pillar, did a crease or a fold occur? Try pulling it out the full way and check for that. If the buckle is not sitting right way round there may be a fold inside the pillar.

I didn't bother to check when I got the car back, but having now done so, as far as I can tell the only slack occurs when the fitting is set at its lowest point - and apart from any chance rubbing on the seat it seems to do what I expect it to do. Silly me for taking the dealer's comment at face value - I'll certainly defer the decision until I get clearer evidence that there's something wrong.

Thanks for your assistance :)

Hi

When i got my 210 back from getting warranty work done, (headlining removed) the seat belt did not reel in and it was something to do with the sliding mechanism on the door post, i pulled back the door rubber and removed the trim and slotted something back in place, would the dealer have had any reason to be working in this area when you were having the car serviced. If so i would check the slider.
