I had a replacement oil level sensor fitted in the cdi. Was fault from new. there was an argument ove the bill which I refused to pay becvause it was sent in 3 time sand each time came back faulty. They wanted €400, about £260 of which €80 or £55 was for the part. I have no idea where it is fitted and the service manager in the dealership had absolutely no idea either so he could not tell me. I guess he was with the VW Beetle section looking after cooling systems......

I seem to have the same problem (and car/ engine)- the warning has appeared twice, and then cleared. I've had the car for 3 weeks (and love it) but it needs to go in to get the sunroof repaired soon. SHould I get them to look a t the sensor as well?

I had this in my E320, warning me every other time I started the engine... - but before you go to your mechanic.... take a look at your battery.... Mine was quite low (slow cranking the engine over) and I replaced it with a new battery. Not only does the engine start like a whippet instead of an elephant.... I've not see the oil sensor warning message since!

Good point here, again back to basics always make sure that you have a full 12v before diving headlong into other problems.
