Attention any PTS experts - I've got a weird fault on my 2002 facelift e430 estate.
Rear PTS failed with no rear display. After replacing a few sensors the display is showing just two bars nearest to centre and warning beep. Used a scanner to discover only the inner 2 units are working. (My scanner shows from the sensor distance as 255 down to 0 for each one - the two outer (left and right) are just stuck at 255). By swapping replacements through the inner 2 working locations I have checked and have a set of working sensors (had collected a few in anticipation of faulty sensors). So I know the sensors are in working condition - yet they will not work on the car in the rear right outer and the rear left outer positions.
OK so check the wiring - full continuity from the control module box connection to the three connections at the back of the senors (power, ground and signal). I checked all 4 sensor wiring from the control box. So maybe its the box....well I had bought a used one from fleabay....While of course it might also be faulty its also reporting just the 2 outers are not working.
Anyone out there with an inkling what my next step should be.....I'm grinding to a halt.
Its a bit of a pain as the estate requires the removal of the rear bumper and its sensible to get this done now I've tackled the modest rust on the inner panels.
