Hi, I am a new member to this forum and have also got a rust problem
with my W210 oct 2002 on the black door trims next to the windows.

The car was purchased from a main dealer one owner and now has just 37,000 on the clock, but is out of the extended warranty, I have taken this up with the local dealer and MBUK and have been told that the 30 year corrosion warranty does not cover trim.

The trim is held on with what I can see just two screws on the inside edge of the door, the dealer is telling me they use special glue as well as the screws. I think I am being feed a line here.

Are the pannels as easy to remove as just the two screws or do I need glue as well ?

The rest of the car is rust free luckily.

No glue.

Remove the screws and BINGO.

These trim parts are common to show corrosion.

Paul,

I replaced all four of the black trims on my E200K. As Black says only screwed on, not glued. Took less than an hour to do the lot. Parts cost about £70 all in if I remember correctly.

Hi Andy

My local MB dealer has quoted £40 per panel, did you get yours from a main dealer or somewhere else ?

Thanks
Paul.

don't be too sure about that, make sure to checkout your front suspensions springs http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=5824&page=21 and the assembly that holds them in place, also check the Cross member for signs of rot/rust.

Thanks for the extra tips, I have just had a B service by a Merc specialist and did ask them to check for rust all seemed fine. I will point out the area mentioned and make sure these are checked on the next service.

Thanks again, what a great forum this is.

Paul.

Got them from my local MB dealership. I've just dug out the invoice £19.92 each
