does anyone know if losening the bleed nipple on the slv valve with the engine running should spurt high pressure oil out or just dribble out, the latter is my situation ?

my local garage say the tandem pump which provides the pressure to steering and rear suspension is not working.the power steering is ok just the slv not working. they are adament the new replacement pipes are connected correctly.if the pipes were incorrectly connected could this cause the same situation? a new pump is £350, so you can see my dilemar. any help will be much appreciated. herbiemercman.

With the car on ramps, loosen the height adjuster, 10mm nut, engine running, slowly move the adjuster up and down, that sould bleed the system!! done it that way many times now!!

sam, thanks for your help, do you do this with the bleed nipple open/ also could the pipes if incorrectly fitted stop the high pressure oil spurting out? herbiemercman.

Its the same when you replace the rear shockers, fit the new ones and adjust the valve to bleed them out! as i said i have done loads of these and never had a problem before!!

To drain
The self leveling adjuster rod should be removed and the lever set to and push the torsion be up.

Attach a hose to the oil drain plug on the lever controller, undo the drain plug slowly (pressure) and catch the oil.

To fill, engine running

fill the reservoir with oil. move the lever to fill (F) the system bleeds its self.

Switch off engine

Push the lever to Empty position, the lever must remain in this position for 60 sec

Re connect link rod

Press the rear up and down a few times and vehicle adjust its self, and re fil reservoir

The pressure is very high and you check with the engine at idle

I will send you the paper
