When cleaning the car have you accidentally switched off passenger bag.if fault still there, do a reset as Jberks says by disconnecting battery for 5 mins. If still no joy, there will be a fault code stored it could be anything from a seatbelt sensor up. There is an issue with over sensitive retracters for the side bags, but I thought that it would have come to light before now. A fault read out will be the only way forward if the re set fails to work.

No problem - just spin the steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times, that resets the ESP . It just needs the wheel position sensor recalibrating. Perfectly normal - sorry should have warned you - scared me the first time I saw it!.

Did the lock to lock and that fixed the other lights but the srs light is still on, how do I find out the fault code? regards aa1

You will have to get the fault codes readout and cleared by MB or a indie with a HHT test set.

When I had the car at the MB dealer yesterday I would have thought they would have tried all the possibilities such as codes and the likes before telling me I needed a knew unit at £355.00 ? aa1

Hi aa1 in my experience the most common srs problem on 210s is the seat recognition pad, the wire breaks just as it comes out of the pad

That would make good sense that as the car has only just been purchased the seat would have been moved for the new owner.

Is it possible for me to check this wire, as this car has electric memory comfort seats it seems to me this could be rather difficult to find unless you can point me in the right direction! aa1

bearing in mind only the pasenger seat has a pad, however i would like to think your local dealer would have picked up the fault code. have come across
odd problem more than once with 203 new C class where srs light on and no fault codes present

disconnecting the battery won't turn off the light, but it may have removed the cause or alternatively revealed the fault code (unfrozen the controller). You need to return it to the dealer and ask them to have another go. Actually, given whet the dealer charges, bob it down to an indie for another attempted reset or if that fails, a second opinion.
Don't give up just yet.

Might be being cynical, but the stealer would say it needed a new unit, I expect you could hear the "kerrching" noise in the background...

As a guide - if it needs a reset - my local indie did mine recently after fitting a new airbag spiral. He charged £35 for that, which shocked me (too used to getting reasonable prices now I don't use the stealer!), but if it clears it, thats a lot less than £355!

Adrian, are you keeping your indie for yourself or are you going to share.I promise I won't tell him what the MB dealer tried to do to me. aa1
