Hi All,

Noticed something has taken a lump of paint off the bonnet of my 2000 E320CDI, albeit not right down to the bare metal. The car is mercifully free of stone chips so I'm keen to treat this one asap. However, the colour's the common metallic silver, so I'm suspecting it won't be as simple as a touch-up stick, at least if I don't want the repair to stick out like a sore thumb?

Any advice much appreciated.

Regards,

Its the wrong time of the year to do much.

When its at least +10c mask off all around, with an aerosol of the right 044 colour (brilliant silver) give 2 or 3 quick passes and leave to dry circa 20 mins, remove the masking and lightly T cut. the base coat that you have sprayed on will come off the old paint like butter, mask and spray again, leave to dry baring in mind that paint shrinks and sinks as it dries 20 hours. when the hole is filled to the same height as the original, very lightly T cut off and wax it. if done correctly you will only see it at certain angles. Do not try a top clear coat as it will make it too dark.
