w210 Suspension Front upper contol arm

I own a 1999 w210 E280 with 137000km's on the clock. It has been driven mainly on highways and city roads. I recently had to replace the front shocks, front lower ball-joints and the anti-roll bar drop links.I now have a knocking sound from the fromt right when driving on an uneven surface, such as paving.I can sometimes replicate the knock by pushing the front right of the car down. The agents suggest that the upper contol arm ball joint may be worn and I gather this is fairly expensive.I have read a fair amount about the anti-roll bar bushes also being a problem on the W210. If all of these components have failed, then all that is left intact is the coil spring! Has anyone else had similar problems?

The ONLY problems I have had with my W210 1997 E230 is the front suspension.

Firstly, the drivers front suspension perch came off on the way to the MOT garage a few years ago. The MOT guy could not believe how bad it was. He checked the other side and said he could not see a problem.

A few years later I had got back from a 250 mile drive and pulled up the driveway and the passenger side front suspension came to pieces...again the suspension perch had rusted and come off.

I have just had a call from the garage telling me the passenger side front suspension control arm and all the bushes are shot to pieces.

The engine is perfect, always perfect, the interior is bullet proof but the front suspension problems have cost me over 3 years more than the car is worth.
