W210 E320 cdi Estate:
Does anyone have a problem with W210 windscreens cracking? Mine has cracked over the right hand side heater/air duct in front of the steering wheel. A short vertical crack about 4 inches then a long horizontal one originally 12inches and now about 24 inches going across parallel to the dash. I have seen quite a few windscreens cracked in the same place. it happened in frosty weather.

Any solutions or advice? I know the windscreen needs replacing but how do I make sure it does not happen again? MB of course dont want to know about it.

I am no expert but it sounds like faulty glass to me.
Unless hot water has been poured on the windscreen to get rid of ice!
I have been watching my neighbour do that regularly through the winter but it ain't cracked his..... Oh well there is always hope and next year!!

No hot water used. I only ever use cold water or deice spray.

But it is right at the edge of where the frost on the outside starts to defrost when you turn on the blower.

I would take it to another MB dealer and ask them to pursue warranty - it sounds like faulty glass to me. Or drive into on of the windscreen places and canvass their opinion.

Good luck

i had an idea today.....

i was changing my windscreen wiper on a CLK and I accidently dropped the arm with no blade and it cracked against the screen.

is the crack at the point where the ed of the arm would toucht eh screen?

could there be a claim aganst the dealer for dropping the blade arm?

just an idea...
