Hello all....My front windscreen wiper has stopped working...Does anyone have a clue as to the most likely cause?..
The indicators , windscreen washer and highbeam functions all work...As do the horn and Hazard warning lights.
The only thing I've noticed is that the rear wiper comes on when I turn on the ignition.!.
Any pointers would be much appreciated....Thanks

Used to have a C63...
If you've had the bonnet open, double-check that it's fully closed!

There is a microswitch that stops wipers sweeping when bonnet is open, to prevent them hitting rear edge of bonnet.

I did open and close the bonnet this morning..
Any idea where the microswitch is located?
At first the wiper stopped in the middle...Within a sweep or 2 more it seems dead!

The inside handle to release the bonnet does seem a bit stiff!

Hi, 1st thing I'd do is check fuse, big ok then check voltage at wiper motor wiring,.if no voltage possible relay wiring or stalk issue

Don't know on your car I'm afraid. Suspect it'll be leading edge, near the latch mechanism. Think it's just a little popper switch.

A good dose of & soak in silicon/PTFE spray, and several presses to loosen it up should do the trick.

Failing that, have another go at closing bonnet firmly, then lean heavily on front edge a few times!

In which case, switch may well be in amongst the actual bonnet latch - the latch lever (non-latching end) will push the switch in when in its resting position- try to give that a clean & decrease too, then give it the PTFE spray treatment As well.

This happened to my car Mercedes w202 and apparently in the wiper engine there is a plastic gear that has tiny teeth’s they start getting round so that will make you wipers not working , try to remove and take a look in there
Ps
I went to the scrapyard took one gear from a Nissan the gear was as big as my own and it worked ! E249CF4F-C5A5-4D0D-A17A-35A1468FF44E.jpeg

I finally got around to sorting this out.
I'm not convinced my model has a micro switch...The wiper did work momentarily while accessing the motor with the bonnet open.
Anyway....I seemed to have power getting to the motor....I came to the conclusion that it was probably the motor or mechanism..
From what I have read it seemed less likely to be the stalk or a relay.
Fingers crossed I took a gamble...£20 from ebay for a 2nd hand motor and mechanism...It worked...Happy days:geek::)
Thanks all for your suggestions....Much appreciated.

The mechanism on 210’s need lubricating regularly otherwise they jam up and destroy the nylon gears
