I am laid up at the moment waiting for a plastic housing that connects to the intercooler pipe, and thought it may be a good idea to change the 'fit for life' transmission oil and filter as there seems to be a consensus now that changing it would be a good idea.
Its a 722.699 trans, the sticky says 7.5L but not a change amount, any fresh advice as i dont have the plastic dipstick
Where is the filter, what sort of filter is it conventional element.
My transmission works OK ( famous last worrds) and dont have any issues with it its done about 90 k miles
thanks

Ouch I was thinking, that sounds painful, but then I read on:D

The 7+ refers to something over 7 liters, as there will always be a little trapped in.

You will need to remove a cooler pipe to drain all of the old fluid and spin the engine for a few secs

The sump must be removed to change the filter.

Personally, I wouldn't attempt this unless you can get a dipstick. Too much oil will blast it out of the breather (or a weak seal) & make a big mess. Not enough could damage the box. Either do it right, or get someone else to do it.

I have done the auto box oil change a few times now as all our W211s are between 200 and 300k, one of the cars reminds me about every 70k by juddering when pulling away, change the g/box oil and filter and its fine again, funny its the only car thats ever done it, anyway you need the diptick to do it right and you need to be able to get to the centre of the car underneath to drain and remove the oil pan, the filter is inside the pan, six torx bolts, I have only ever managed to get 4 Lts out, measure what comes out and put the same back in run it till its hot and check with your dipstick while its idling, sorted.
