Good evening,
Not having a great day that’s for sure!

got an ABS light come up after not driving the car for about 6 days it’s saying ESP ABS and service brake visit workshop on the little screen in the middle and my cruise control isn’t working.
Plugged into my diagnostic and I’m slightly confused it’s telling me to inspect the distance on either front left or rear right rotor to sensor I’ve put a picture up aswell.

ive done a bit of research and it does say that it could be wheel bearing or wheel speed sensor itself but the traction triangle light is NOT illuminated when the fault is happening.
I have recently had my MOT where the front left wheel bearing had been adjusted could this be causing it?

also as a side note if I clear the code and drive the car above 20mph it’s actually maintaining that speed if not accelerating a tiny bit when my foot is off the pedal it’s really weird and when I brake it feels like the car is trying to fight it but as soon as the light comes back on again the car becomes somewhat drivable.

Any advice would be excellent! My SBC pump is still working as I can hear it.

Probably a abs /speed sensor
Best plug it in with star at a local Indy

I’ve just checked the live data from the speed sensors and they all seem to be reading my speed ok

If you get it to an Indy they will be able to tell you
It’s around £30/£50 to plug it in

Well it is at my local Indy

Start it up and drive it forwards going lock to lock with the steering. The warnings may well go.
If they do invest in a battery conditioner

Just tried that, it didn’t work, I’m gonna get it booked in I think I’m hoping it’s just a sensor of some sort!

Rear reluctor rings can give intermittant and unusual behaviour when they break loose. Which they do. Often.
I’m heading to our workshop tomorrow morning and I’m gonna take out the sensor clean it and refit it and see if that clears the issue I think first.

Is there anything I should be careful of?

Could this all just be stuff thrown up by low battery charge from not being driven ?
Decent hours drive first before committing to any work ?

It will help to know what type of speed sensor your car has on the rear axle. Some have a reluctor ring, some have magnets built into the wheel bearing.

Battery seems to be in good shape started first time with no struggle at all.
It threw up an error code in Northampton drive it back and around rugby to try and clear it but it didn’t clear (after 2 hours)
I mean it’s almost a 16 year old car and it’s probably original sensors so it would sort of makes sense

I have no idea, I’m hoping to have a closer look at it tomorrow, just didn’t know if I should be weary of anything.

Good luck. The rear sensors are often hard to remove on the w211. The front ones always come out much more easily

I have a feeling it’s the rear, because I have a rotational squeak on the rear left wheel.
One of the wheels that the code reader was telling me.
I’ll let everyone know if I get anywhere

A squeak sounds to me more likely to be a reluctor ring issue.

I’ve given the issue a bit more research and it’s an absolute minefield of things it can be.
But I’ll try and get it out tomorrow, can you clean them up or re seat them at all?

Took the sensors out they looked absolutely fine cleaned them anyway looked inside the hole at the ABS ring and you can see it’s actually come away from where it’s suppose to be in places so it looks like it’s going to be that
