Hi everyone! I've did some maintenance on my car. I've had to change the ball joint and the control arm on the front left wheel of the car. This meant, I've had to unplug the speed sensor. After fixing everything upfront, I've connected the speed sensor, and started my car to take a test drive. After a couple of minutes, ABS and EBS lights turned on (never had that issue before). What could be the reason for this? I've also changed one more part, and the alignment got messed up, getting that one fixed tomorrow. I don't think I've damaged the wiring in any way, also I've unplugged the battery when I started working on the car. I've also tried the trick of spinning the wheel to the left and right in order to reset the faults, but it didn't work. What could cause the ABS and ESP lights to turn on? Did I possibly connect the speed sensor in a wrong position?

An ABS fault will also trigger the ESP as the system needs to monitor all wheel speeds. Without plugging a diagnostic in the most likely is damaged wiring, not plugged in correctly or dirty contacts, do check you’ve not damaged the wires on reassembly.

Depending on how brutal you needed to get on removing those parts (left is grubbiest in the UK - assuming you’re here - as you’re running in the gutters) you may have upset the ABS ring which will be getting on now on any 211 and from memory not that hard to replace and less than a tenner on eBay. Good luck

Thank you for the advice! I'll thoroughly look through the wiring and unplug it. Is there a specific way it goes in? Sorry I'm sort of new to this. I could've probably damaged the ABS ring too, I've twisted the wheel hub far off to take off some of the parts from the car, so it would make sense. I guess if the wiring seems fine I'll have to diagnose it
