W211 Audio Upgrade

I am replacing the audio 20 radio and single CD unit with a JVC double DIN DVD unit with freeview box, I have ordered the wiring and aerial adapters and facia from a local ICE shop and they tell me the job is straight forward once I have all the bits, just checking here if anyone can throw up any problems I might encounter. Car is a 53 reg W211 estate.

Hi Steve with the free view box you will need a antenna amp unless this unit uses the radio one

The Freeview box comes with a basic aerial Malcolm but I might buy a better one.

You can get the split amp made for your car, though they are not cheap, also the wire that goes to the freeview box, if you need I can give details, but see how it goes

Facia plate is also worth considering as double doesn't go in straight in to the double din slot. Autoleads do plastic adaptors but they are very plasticy and flimsy which made me go for alpine slide out screen with DVD player instead.

I have ordered a double DIN facia Amo, not sure on the quality till I get it.
