w211 battery when wet!

Hi all, my E320 cdi estate has a couple of strange faults that i am sure are common but i cannot find the answer. 1, when wet (washed or rain) the dash shows the Battery in red and says visit workshop why? 2. the headlights come on and the heater/radio dims so you cannot read them again why? thanks Alan.

Hi Alen,, this points to water or moisture getting into one of the SAM's in the fuse control box

sorrry to sound a bit stupid but where and what are these. Only had the car for 3 weeks so still learning.Oh and happy birthday.

Thanks A SAM is an electronic box that picks up info on all of the component in the car.

My SL last year after I washed it started giving silly faults and would turn a headlamp on, tell me the parking brake was on and so on, this was moisture that entered one of the vents, and got into a fuse 7 control box.

In the morning I can look to see what and where the problem is on yours, you may have to remind me, your car is known as a WDB211 and I would like the next 3 VIN numbers please

To be truthful not very well of late, just too many post, and I am way behind

I am sorting this now the numbers you gave me are incorrect there is no 266 but there is a 226 and I am doing it on this one

You are right it is 226. I turned 40 last week and appear to have lost use of my eyes and can no longer spell sorrrry!

Paper sent on all 3 SAMs,as this is a damp issue, any one could be corroded on the pins
