W211 - Best cable route from dashboard to luggage compartment

I'm still toying with the idea of fitting a replacement Android head unit to my E320 CDI estate. One option is to run a cable from new head unit to the speaker cable removed from the audio gateway. Obvious routes are above the doors or below the doors.
Has anyone tried either of these?

Not on a 211 but in general my preference is under carpets.

To answer my own question...lift the door seals from the sills on the left side of the car. there are plastic channels that can be popped open to insert additional cable, although there are a couple of odd shaped tubes that make it awkward because the connectors have to be fiddled through, but it is possible. There's a trim panel attached to the rear wheel arch and the front trim panel in the passenger footwell. A couple of screws allows the panel over the footwell to be lowered. As my M-I-L used to say; 'It's as simple as that.'

If you are running signal cables (i.e. phono leads from head unit) make sure there are no main power feeds on the same route, it can lead to interference. Also if you are running power feeds from main battery under the bonnet to power amps in the boot run them on the opposite side to signal feeds.
