Hi all

I've got a 2002/2003 220cdi which came with the cassette audio unit and cd changer behind the dash. I've just bought a very similar audio unit from Ebay off a 2006 car but instead of the cassette player, has a single cd player. I'd like to swap these items because I never use the cassette player and would prefer the single cd player to quickly add and remove cds on the move.

Can anyone confirm that I can simply swap these two units (ie. the wiring is the same)

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, they are inter changable, If Marnix comes on, he would also confirm this. they should both be optical.

I don't think that it is just a swap.
The Audio 20 with cassette has the AGW (Audio Gate Way) built in.
The unit with the CD has an additional AGW module.
Soo if you want the CD radio to work, you must install an additional AGW.

Hi Marnix

Can you be a little more explicit with a novice like me? What do you mean by an AGW? What does it look like, where can I buy it from and how much :)
If it helps the model number of the Audio 20 CD unit is A 211 870 50 89.

By the way, do you know where I can get the in dash CD Changer assembly. My one is broken (ie. when you push the eject button nothing happens). I had the MB guys have a look at they said someone's forced it at some point and broken the assembly in which the CD changer sits. Maybe I could buy a second hand unit including the CD changer from somewhere.

Cheers

The AGW is the brain that is used with MB SMART system. This has replaced the D2B fibre optic system.
The AGW module is the silver box that this guy is selling on Ebay Germany with an APS 50 navigation system. If you are looking for something like that, I have the whole system APS50 with AGW,Aerial splitter and another box of tricks that also came with it. That was removed from my leased E320 CDI the end of last year. I took it back as we did have to pay for extras fitted to our company cars. I just want rid of the whole lot, soo price is very sensible.

How can I confirm that my car doesn't have AGW. On another forum, someone with a similar unit to my cassette one states that his car did have a seperate AGW. Where in the car is it located.

Cheers

The guy at the Mercs parts dept should be able to tell you exactly what is fitted to your car and where it is located.
It's all on their computer system.

Marnix

How much do you want for your APS50 and AGW. Can you send me a personal mail regarding it.

Cheers
