My drivers door mirror sometimes forgets to 'open out' when starting the engine up as normal. It will do this a couple of times and not do it again for a month or so. I do remember seeing a thread on the very subject but not able to find it now, something to do with the wiring in the door ?
many thanks

Yes the wires can break due to the folding, its easy to take off the cover or the complete mirror and replace the wires

thanks for the reply, in general where does the wire fail at the mirror door interface where the wire has to bend ?

They might just be sticking.

Squirt some PTFE spray inside when they are folded in and see if that helps.

Yes and a good point.

The wires when they break are just the ones that go too the folding motor. the wires go to a socket and they break where they bend.

The wires in my view are far too stiff and weak

Most stick from time to time. Both of mine do. If it's an occasional refusal to wind out but a quick nudge and cycle of the button sorts it, I'd go with it just sticking.

Theres modified folding motors and pins for this problem. The wires breaking within the mirror casing will not cause this fault as the folding motor wires are on the inside.

We have had a few where the wires have broken inside
