Had a dynamic seat issue and various codes on STAR for leaking air on an early W211. Found a leaking bladder which I've removed and blanked the pipe for now looking for any further issues. Could still hear hissing noises coming from a trunking area so removed interior trim to get to it and have found that the pipe going from the SK socket (marked with a black connector) on the dynamic/pneumatic seat pump is venting to air (see attached picture). This is one of the three pipes that goes from the boot to the interior (the other two pipes go to each seat from the air reservoir bolted to the side of the boot).

Does anyone know for sure if this pipe should vent and if not what should be on the end of it or where should it connect to?

After more investigating it seems that this pipe is the feed pipe for the pump, still seems weird it pulls its air from a pipe that vents in the interior trunking!

I've yet to get to this on my E55, Dynamic seats not working and star showing a leak somewhere on the passenger seat. On the list :)

I'm still getting the code 9250 for air leak but cannot see where or why. The system is holding pressure initially but as you use the buttons on the seats to inflate them the air starts to drop in the pump pressure reading but the pump doesn't seem to switch itself on again to replace/replenish this air. :(

on mine (s class) there's two small (fuel filter style) air filters on the inlet. You'd not likely fit a long pipe to pull in air. surely its fallen off something else hence the noise ?

15 is a short run "for sound insulation" then the air filter !!!

I agree with your opinion, this images on the following link seems to show the pipes are also different to my setup....it's all very confusing!

Question is if when pumping up the seats the pump should run once the air falls below a certain level or whether once it initially runs the air shouldn't run out even when inflating. :(

I don't have dynamic seats but the air bladders on our r230 reinflate if the pressure drops.

Does the pump run to make up for the lost pressure after it initially runs?

Yes. You can feel it pumping up as you drive.
