If you've read mz other thread, http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=17603, then you'll know of the noise which drove me mad!
WELL, all you E-Class W211 owners with a 270 engine, looks like the problem is not limited to ML's. Leaving work tonight, down into the underground car park, what should I here.. clatter of diesel, slow wind up of turbo whistling, then SHREAAAAAAK! I rushed round the corner, only to see a black E-class estate 270cdi W211 leaving the building, shreaking. Worse than mine was, but it doesnt bode well for all you other 270 owners.
I noted down the registration, so if I see his car in the car park tomorrow, I'll leave a note on his window to see if he needs help with resolution, and if so, Ill get the Model Year so will be able to see if a batch starting in 11/2000 was bad, or there is a generic design fault!
