w211 e class luggage cover - how do you release it??

Just fitted a new luggage cover to my 2004 e220 cdi estate. The only thing is since it has the electric lift and lower, how are you supposed to release it if it automatically lifts on opening the tailgate!!! There's nothing in the handbook about this either nor can I see any hidden release switches. Worth putting this on the krypton factor!

Grab hold of the handle on the cover, pull it toward you and follow the track it runs in, unclip it and then gently let it retract into its holder. Reverse this action when you want to put it back on auto.
