hi all,

When i stop my car, there is alot of engine noise within the cabin. When it is cruising, i cant hear anything, i heard there is an engine oil that can be put in which makes engine quieter, anyone know of this?

Please advise if this is true on all similar cars or does it need servicing?

I would stay with the mobil 1 (or new low ash equivalent). It maybe just that you are not used to the 'sound' of a diesel or you may have a fault. You will probably be listening for it now and the more you listen the more you will here it. At this time of year diesels are noisier until warm.
I would recommend that you take another one for a test drive and see if that one is the same.

The 270 engine is a bit noisy and rough at tickover. Its normal and nothing to worry about.

as the guys above say, nothing to worry about.** I have a 220 CDI which seems noisy at idle, but is all but silent at 40mph upwards. Plus also, a weekend running around in the wife's punto makes mine seem quiet again on a monday morning!! It's all about what you are used to
** unless you have had the car for sometime and the noise has become markedly apparent just now ??
