w211 e320 cdi vibrating problem

Hi my 2003 w211 e320 cdi has developed a vibrating problem when at idle and reverse but when i speed up it disappears. The only thing that comes to mind are engine mounts but from time to time the vibration goes away at idle.

Could anyone tell me how to check the engine mounts and how to replace them.

Any help would be great.

Hi,
I once had a vibration prob but it was at idle and at approx 70mph.
After a lot of swearing,searching and trying other similar cars was unable to find a damn thing.Just replaced the 2 engine mountings and the problem went away.
On inspection the old mountings looked perfect with no cracks/perishing so I could only assume that they had gone hard.
If the engine is idling ok(ie not an injection fault for example) its worth replacing the mountings.

when the car is juddering, open the bonnet, look at the belt, see if its bouncing about, alternator pulley most likely if your belt is bouncing.

but with explanations of juddering etc it is hard as descriptions can be hard to get across to someone else. and can also be misinterpreted.

the best advice i can offer is,, before you spend money on anything get it checked by someone who is experienced on mercedes. guesswork can cost lots of money.

I'll agree with MB TECH, but my car had what I interpret as similar problems which were cured with new engine mounts.
