Hi
I'm new to the forum - thanks for allowing me to join.

I have a query which I think only W211 fans will be able to shed light on.

I'm about to buy an immaculate W211 estate which has just landed in the UK from Japan.

Its a 2007 V6 petrol model and here is the concern.

Nearly all petrol engined cars of this era are badged E280 or E320.

This one is badged E300 which seems odd - were Japanese cars badged in a different format to the european cars ?

Its the only thing putting me off an immaculate car.

Can anyone tell me about badging quirks of this period W211 ?
Thanks
Spenny

The VIN will tell you what engine is in it

Could be badged E300 for the 3.0 V6 engine in Japan

Worth checking the engine numbers as I believe that the V6 petrols around that age can suffer camshaft (or crankshaft) problems ??
Hopefully someone can put my statement into an internet link :)

I'm hoping that my E240 V6 isn't one of them.

Welcome, check your VHF FM car radio when you get it. As far as I know they are still using the 76-95 Mhz band.
Whereas Europe uses 87.5-108Mhz.

I was looking at a Japanese import years ago. car looked mint, it had command so was put off by the need to not only change the head unit but also the looms as the connectors are dirrerent and comand is coded to car.

I seen sense and said - i can get just as good here and can at least know how to check the cars history to a better extent.

A few companies are importing JP cars - good weather no salt bla bla. all with way below avg miles.

good luck and keep us posted

Only the mileage counter is low low recorded miles, if Jap car had hours counters, they would be way, way more than UK cars ;)

Chinese Andriod come with different ISO connectors, so maybe they have considered the difference in wiring and compensated.

I've never understood why all the Jap motors are such low mileage, does everyone only commute in Tokyo over there?

Commute to work and back 5 hrs, miles to work and back 3 miles :)
