It was noted on my last service that the pads would not lat until the next serice on y 02 220 e class
after a bit of reasearch i bought new discs and pads from the dealer
is there anything particular to watch when changing, a tag attached to the disc warns of the braking sytem can actuate automoticaly
is this the radar acuated one ?
and the system should be de-activated before doing any work
mine is bog standard , do i need to do anything out of the ordinary when cahngine both ?

many thanks

Thanks for the advice, this car is far too clever for me!

so if i diconect the SBC pump and evacuate any residual pressure in the system on the advised 20-25 pumps of the pedal
Can i then procede as normal ie after taking the caliper off will the system allow me to press the caliper pistons back to allow the new pads to be fitted without danger,in the normal way i have tool for doing this so fingers wont be in the way.
after all back together and pads pushed out by the pedal , if then the ignition is switched on will there be any warning lamps
from reading the threads you changed the pads on your car did you have any warning lamps lit afterwards
many thanks

If you turn on the Ignition with the pump disconnected the dash will go bright red, but the car will start and leave the brake not activated.

Yes you can just push the pistons back with out problems or danger.

It was nerve racking the first time I did it, but with the pump off its the same as a normal car so good luck :D:D

Everthing went according to plan, disconnect pump under bonnet , pump pedal a few times and proceed as normal.
I used a draper tool to push the pistons right back, only a couple of quid but saves the hassle of beggering about with a g cramp and bits of wood.
I ended up buying the gen pads from the MB stealer as there was not too much difference them and the factors, the dealer fit had all the fittings and replacement caliper bolts and piston covers, and sensor wires, all in not to bad.
There wasnt any issues when re-conneting the pump, back top narmal and no waring lights
