W211 interior tweaks

Mercedes E-class, 2005, E270CDI (2.7) + 1992 Mercedes 500SL (R129)
Has anyone on head swapped the standard climate control unit on a pre 2006 w211 (Without screen) to one with the optional climate control with the screen the part is around £40 on eBay thought it kind of brings up the interior a little bit.
Is there any sort of programming required or would it be a bit pointless?
Just an idea at the moment though.

Not sure on the 211 but the basic 210 has cables driving all the vent positioners whereas the electronic one uses motors.
