Hi Guys

After a 180 mile run, when on a dual carriageway exiting roadworks, I put my foot down and nothing significant happened. After much faffing about in the smaller roads, it seems the car is refusing to downshift.

This was OK until I had to stop on the single track road I live on. One I stopped I couldn't engage any gear. Gear stick would move into D and R but car wouldn't move.

Turned my ignition off and on again (what the work boffins call a 'power cycle'... But the rest of us call 'turning it off and on again') and I could select gear and drive.

I have a P0717 fault so reading up says this is probably a conductor plate fault. Anyone on here got any bright ideas.

It was going into the garage for a full inspection and gearbox service next week anyway, so looks like I can add the cost of an Ecu Tuning rebuild into the mix (sent my wife's dsg ecu there and it was back in a couple of days).

Yes, sorry, it is the 7G. 2007 E320.

It's going to be an exciting drive to the garage.

Quick update:

Car was in with Alex Crow on Tuesday. He gave the car a general inspection and it's pretty good. Certainly worth what I paid and it may well hang around for a few years. It was the conductor plate at fault so he took it off without much hastle and I left with it.

I was going to send it to ACTronics but they won't deal with individuals so it went off to Ecu Testing. These guys did essentially the same job on my wife's vw dsg box so I already know them.

Booked it in with them on Tuesday, it was picked up yesterday, phoned them up to pay today and it will be back at the garage tomorrow. £300 Inc Vat and delivery.

Hopefully have the land barge back next week.
