Hi

I have a 2003 53 plate E320cdi, I'd like to buy a scanner for the codes. Looking at the web it's not clear if my car can connect to OB11. Could you tell me if it is possible? A lot of sites say after 2004 for diesel but presumably my car would be 2004 complient as its a Sept 2003.

Where is the connector port? I'd like to be able to reset the check engine light, and also have the possibility of doing abs and srs.

Any advice gratefully received!

I bought both a bluetooth and wireless one, i got the wireless one so i could connect to it via the laptop running windows as of course the iphone isn't 100% bluetooth capable (unlike an android phone)

the connector port is behind a flap under the steering wheel (use a torch to see it) and the devices can be bought on ebay

if you want any sort of advanced features then you need Star, and that is NOT cheap (or cheerful). Television (Malcolm) has one so with some luck he can advise about that.

It is easy to by scanners for the chassis test, thats ABC etc and engine faults.

To do meaningful test on things on the body and SRS does need an good one.

You can buy a cloned STAR for around £500 but in the wrong hands you can do a lot of damage
