I have a 280 cdi and it always idles at exactly 700 rpm when warm. Read a few forums and some people were getting 580-650 rpm when warm, but they were mostly newer 350 cdi models. I doubt it's abnormal, considering how it always idles at 700, but just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

My 250 cdi used to idle at 800. I don’t think you have much to worry about.

My 350CDi idles at around 700 so I wouldn't be overly concerned.

06 Jeep grand Cherokee om642 no dpf idles at 620 verified on an icarsoft scanner .
Are these different values due to gearing ratios ? , the Jeeps only geared for 120mph flat out and rolls up to 5mph in first on its 722.6 box so any higher revs would see a marked increase in speed
