Have a 2006 211, intermittently gearlever won't move out of drive or sometimes Neutral . If you switch ignition off then back on more often than not it clears the fault and gear selector work fine.
Read the fault code as P1856 Selector position detection failed - and remedy is advised as "replace the floor mounted shift module"
Job looks relatively straightforward, I have a part number and can find pre-owned parts relatively inexpensively - just wanted to check if I replace the unit for a 2nd hand one whether or not it will need coding? also any tips if needed would be helpful.
