Hi Malcolm, I am a newbie at this and hoping that I am entering this request in the correct place. I know that that you must have sent this out hundreds of times, but can you please do it once again and send me all the info on parktronic sensor problems.
My car is the 2003 w211 320 and my email is kenjhughes@blueyonder.co.uk
Thank you and kind regards, Ken.

Hi all, anybody's got any material on the fault finding guide for the parktronic that they are willing to share?

Parking sensor faults

Hi guys and gals,

Only 3 days into my W211 ownership and the parking sensors are now not working

I am guessing the fact that it is raining today has something to do with it.

When I start the car, I get a "bleeeeeeep" noise and the red leds light up on the front and rear displays.

While driving, if I come to a stop the system comes back on and all the lights light up on the front nearside display, thus I believe I had a sensor problem in that location.

I've read some other posts on this issue and aparently it is possible to remove the bumper strip that the sensors sit in and thus I can have a look at cleaning / drying them properly

Kind regards

Similar problem on my 2003 CLK 200 (C209) - The red segment lights display with a long beep, then go out along with illumination of the switch red indicator lamp. Very common it seems!
Two sensors on the front bumper appear chipped. The posts here are very helpful so first I will remove clean dry then replace the damaged ones. Thanks for all the posts guys.

Inserts moulded into bumper

The sticky that is provided for removing the front bumper inserts is really detailed - super, great job guys.
So i get every thing ready but even though my C209 is a MY2003, it's got the "inserts" moulded into the bumper so its a bumper removal job, hmmm was hoping for an easy one....
There's heaps of You tube videos that offer removal of bumper instruction (Benz works is great) however as soon as I saw the car on a hoist with both front wheels off I knew it would be a tough job without. So its off to my friendly garage guys.
