W211 SBC Brake system

Hi There

I just purchased a '03 E200K.
There is a whirring noise I hear when starting the car and in other situations.
and also a slight vibration in the brake pedal
My understanding is that this is the SBC brake booster charging itself.

However it seems to be charging itself every time I press the brake pedal.
Can this be adjusted - is it too sensitive etc.
Is there anything that can be done - The sound is very annoying.

I realise this has been a thorn in Mercedes side since day one and I believe it has been dropped. This noise will also always be there I know but is there a possibilty mine is too sensitive as it seems to go off every time I brake.

There are a couple of recalls on this system, a pipe mod to reduce noise + software changes etc. Phone dealer & get it all checked. This is not something you can do at home.

As type 49 there is a current recall it should not operate every time that you barake.

The mod referred to only seems to get done to the E and not the SL

Malc, there is a mod to the SL also, it's called P037.

I had the P037, but I have never been offered this damping device. This is the second recall within months, do I have to complain about the noise to get the mode. I know on the 211 you can feel it through the steering.

The mods have all been done on mine and I don't feel anything at all, you can still hear it though when you first get into the car before you start the engine. Once you have started the car it's very subdued due to engine, radio and climate control niose's.

Did they fit that tube thing to you SBC pump or just program, mine just has the label " do not remove "
