Hi all,

I’ve noticed on my dads E350 that there is a CDI or Diesel software update (according to MB’s website when I put the VIN in), my boss at MB however has said to me if there isn’t anything wrong with the vehicle that could be caused by not updating the software then don’t bother updating it as it could throw up faults that weren’t previously there. Is this correct information as I don’t want to break it just by doing an optional update on Xentry! Can you also update COMAND sat nav via Xentry or is this still on the discs on W212’s?

thanks all

Probably it's an upgrade for the environment so I wouldn't go with it; it is likely to wear down your engine a lot quicker due to the burden of all kinds of emission equipment.

There's been quite a few threads on the software "update" on the forum, have a search and decide for yourself...

There's no evidence of that at all.

The old saying goes ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ why risk updating software where there isn’t a problem my 12 plate S212 certainly won’t be having it done. If it’s the update that relates to NOx emissions from feedback on here owners have been left with gearboxes that won’t change into top gear until 75 mph as said do a search
