W212 Estate 220cdi 2011year 112k miles.
Just purchased this car.
The coffee cup is permanently on display. My previous 2016 reg only came up after about 3 hours. Can I remove it.
What is more annoying is that my gear numbers are not displayed.
I can make them appear by using the down paddle.
I can then use the up paddle and they will increase. 1 2 3 4 5 6 but dissapear on 7
The r n p d is working properly and showing everything correctly. The car is driving perfect.
Prior to buying car it had fresh auto box fluid
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

The coffee cup is just the sign saying it’s turned on, if it thinks you actually need a break then it puts a message in the centre of the dash and beeps at you.
The gears not showing is again completely normal, unless you have the C-S-M modes on the gearbox, if you do them flip it to M and you will see the gear selected.

The car is working as designed :)

Later cars show the gear D1, D2, D3, etc. The 7G boxes only show the gear when in manual mode and then they only show 7th as “D”

The 7 speed auto on my 14 plate ML always shows me what gear I'm in when AUTO

The 7G+ in my 61 plate R class only shows D unless I use the paddles.
and does your R Class go back to auto by itself? My R Class did not have paddles just switches to limit how high up the box it would go. My ML will go back to auto itself unless I've gone to manual via the M button in the centre of the car (part of the off road pack)

Don't know to be honest as I never use them other than flicking the right side one when in D to push it to a higher gear.
I don't have any modes other than S and E.
