My W212 E220 came back from service today after a gearbox oil replace. She drives smooth again if not for the enginemounts to be slightly worn (will do them soon).

The MB specialist also mentioned the car had developed a significant oil leak (couple of drops, about half liter per 10.000 km) somewhere near the air intake on the drivers side (that is the left side).

He could not pintpoint the leak exactly as there were many parts in the way so had to reschedule for an appointment anyway, but he suspected the air-intake.

I will check the engine bay myself over the weekend, but before I take apart the entire intake side of the engine, are there any obvious culprits that I can easily check myself? Anyone any tips in finding this issue before I take it back to the dealership?

I found that my oil level was slightly on the high side (not sure if I did that or it happend on the fly), could it be that it leaked through the cam-ventilation or something?

Did you find was the cause of your issue?

Mine could be the same

It is an S212 E250 and has an oil leak that looks like its coming from the intake but difficult to see in situ..

I also have an error P228100 From my Icarsoft, (the intake air system is leaking between MAF and throttle valve..)

it drives fine though only noticed it because of oil on the drive

Sure it's not coming from the oil filter housing/cooler? It's common and close to that area.
Thanks for the reply

I think theres a good chance that it is the filter housing, watching a video of someone replacing it now, looks a nightmare

any idea what i should be paying to repair it and if i need a main dealer or should a local garage be trusted with it? it looks beyond what i would attempt these days.

its a shame that you are so far away i am in solihull else i would bring it straight to you!

It is a pain, 4/5 hour job really.

I'd find a local mb specialist. All the seals will need to be replaced, and it's possible a locale type garage would reuse r5.

The splits are very hard to see when the pipes are on the car - smoke test is the way to go.
