Hey guys

Quick one here.

I have 2 of these rubber couplings to replace on my E class.

Before I go at it.. how do I get the discs out..? When all bolts are removed, do I just pry the disc down towards the ground?

What level of pry bar do I need and is it possible to do on the ground on my back or do you need a lift to get enough space for leverage? I saw that it can be quite tight in there?

Thank you.

P.S. Yeap.. this is a parts cannon job..but at 225k miles I suspect it could probably do with a change anyway and hopefully it will solve judder. I'll check the carrier bearing when I'm there.

From memory if you drop the centre bearing and undo the couplings they more or less fall out.
Might need a bit of help so just pry forward and down. Been a long time since I did one.

Absolutely ;)

Check the centre bearing condition, might be worth doing at the same time.

Yes, I will be checking it alright.. if its not mangled I'll leave it for now.. Right now I just want to eliminate judder.. I have a full on refresh coming later in the year.

OK thanks mate. So I think you have hit nail on head. Removing the carrier bearing will hopefully create enough Slack in the system. I don't think the other person did that.

Thank you.

If your talking about the guibo:

You are overthinking it, make a note of bolt orientation, undo them all then pry them off :)

In what context? In the propshaft only in the center support.

That's it thanks.

Yea I figured I'll be alright but just checking.. doing jobs like this on stands put me in bad form (very!) And if I need to go away and come back that's brutal lol.

Know that feeling. Despite having two ramps atm, I did an SL600 fuel pump on stands this week...
